Summer programme changes on Fox
by Radio Fox on Jul.04, 2010, under Radio Fox News
Radio Fox is making a few changes to its schedule this summer with new shows and a few presenters moving days.
The Classic Rock Show, a popular part of our Monday schedule for many years, has moved to Wednesday evenings with Dave Rowe at the helm. Meanwhile Andy Valentine has returned to Patients Requests for the first time in several years – he’s guesting on the Monday night request fest over the Summer months.
Also on Mondays there’s a new show – Nathan’s Musical Express, where Nathan Lord will be bringing you the latest music news, new releases and classic tracks.
Meanwhile Steve Hack is moving from Sunday mornings to Late Night Radio Fox every Tuesday evening – a bit of a homecoming as Tuesdays are where he started! Steve promises plenty of good music and features every week.
Radio Fox increases the competition
by Radio Fox on Apr.17, 2010, under Radio Fox News
Listeners to Radio Fox now have even more chances to win a prize and get on air, thanks to a relaunch of our daily competitions.
From Monday 19th April there will be standardised competitions across all five of our weekday Patients Requests shows. At 8.30 each evening there’s the Prize Requests draw, where three requests from the evening ward visit are drawn out the prize hat – all listeners have to do is call in if they hear their name! Then at 8.45 it’s Star Turns, where listeners are invited to identify a mystery artist from a song clip.
There’s plenty of chances to win at weekends too, with four further rounds of Prize Requests, Classic Number Ones on the Brunchbox, as well as the Mystery Voice, Brief Introductions and What’s The Word challenges.
In addition to the regular competitions the highly popular Just The Ticket giveaway returns for one week. Tickets are hidden inside copies of the Radio Fox magazine, all listeners have to do is look inside their copy to see if they’re a winner! When Just The Ticket was first run during March over twenty listeners won a prize within a ten day period simply by calling in and saying ‘Just The Ticket.’
“Radio Fox is all about listener involvement and we hope the changes to our competitions will encourage even more people to give us a call,” said Station Director Steve Hack.
In other news, our Saturday Selection request show returns from April 24th after a short break and Radio Fox will be celebrating its 22nd birthday with two special programmes. At 9am on April 23rd Steve Hack will be playing some of the most requested songs of all time in Request Chart Classic Number Ones, then from midday there’s an opportunity to hear The True Adventures Of Radio Fox. Originally produced for our twentieth birthday, the show tells the story of Leicester’s award winning hospital radio service through interviews and archive clips, and has been updated to take in the last two years.

Radio Fox is still the most listened to station within the Leicester Royal Infirmary, according to the latest audience figures supplied by Hospedia.
The statistics show that Fox currently has an audience share of 33%, 11% more than second most listened to station Radio One. Our Friday line up of shows is currently proving most popular with listeners, with Jas’s Jammin’ show our most listened to show overall. The Tuesday and Thursday Patients Requests shows are currently the most listened to request programmes.
Station Director Steve Hack is delighted with Fox’s continued success. “It’s fantastic that so many people are enjoying our programmes but as always, it’s not about how many people are listening. Even if just one person is enjoying our shows, that makes what we’re doing worthwhile.”

Radio Fox was once again at the Leicester Caribbean Carnival at the start of August, and despite the poor weather we managed to produce a great show for listeners in the two hospitals.
A three hour programme was recorded on the back of the Radio Fox float featuring commentary on the parade and interviews with those taking part or watching the event, with each part of the show being raced back to the studio so there was only an hours delay between recording and broadcast!
Radio Fox is hoping to broadcast reports from the Knighton Park Family Fun Day on 6th September where we will be providng the music and PA. You can also see us at the Syston Carnival on September 5th.
